* If you haven’t already done so, establish a four-year academic plan to meet all core course requirements.
* Take a strong academic course load.
* Maintain good grades, preferably A’s and B’s in your core courses.
* If you are struggling, take advantage of tutoring, online, and other services to improve academic performance and grades.
* Continue with community service hours.
* Register for the NCAA Clearinghouse/Eligibility Center.
* Start prep for the SAT/ACT and/or take the SAT/ACT for the first time.
* Talk with your coach about opportunities to increase exposure in your sport.
* Attend summer/sports camps, and for exposure, select camps at colleges that you might want to attend.
* Meet with your coach/trainer for a thorough evaluation of your athletic ability and, hopefully, an honest recommendation for an appropriate level of competition. Be realistic.
* Videotape your games.
* Keep records of your athletic achievements, extracurricular activities, etc.
* View college athletic websites. Most have a simple questionnaire you may fill out and email to the coach.
* Also view college athletic rosters to see number of athletes graduating, potential positions available, and trends in recruiting (area, high schools, leagues).
