All About The SAT Test

March 19, 2023 Posted by tedinburgh Uncategorized

Part of the recruiting process used to be taking the SAT Test. Although the SAT Test is no longer required in the recruiting process, it is still required by a lot of colleges. For that reason, it remains important to score well on the SAT.

Are you ready?

I believe that part of preparing for the SAT test begins with understanding the SAT test. If you understand what’s inside the SAT test, you will better understand how to prepare for the test and what to focus on to be successful. So, let’s see what’s inside the SAT.

Students are tested in three major areas of study: reading, math, writing and language. Within each broad area of study, a certain sub-set of skills are required for students to be successful. Let’s take a look at what they are.

* Reading – you need to know the five major passage question types, each of which need to be treated completely differently. To learn more about the five types of reading passages and the reading section of the SAT, go here.

* Math – you need to know number operations, algebra, geometry, probability, and more. Within algebra, you need to know how to solve equations, how to deal with word problems, properties of function and more. To learn more about the math section of the SAT, go here.

* Writing and Language– you need to master over a dozen grammar rules, many of which you don’t learn in school. To learn more about the writing section of the SAT, go here.

Understanding the foundations of each section of the SAT helps you determine your own needs when it comes to study and preparation. You are better able to determine your own strengths and weaknesses, which is essential to studying smart for the SAT. Study hard for what you don’t know and review for what you do know. A little practice daily, like answering five questions, goes a long way to successfully taking the SAT Test. There are a lot of options available to preparing for the test. The key is preparing for the test… and preparing early. Don’t wait till the last minute!
