Part I
Most student-athletes strive for the same thing… greatness! To become great, or just better at your sport, requires commitment, hard work, and sacrifice. It also requires a plan! There are several ways you can improve as an athlete: training, videos, personal trainers, books, and so much more. But, no matter your sport, there are a few fundamentals every athlete should take to heart, memorize and practice on the daily! Do you want to become a better athlete? Then read on!
Let’s start with your body… because your body is your bread and butter!
- A Good Diet
Food is fuel for the body. You can’t expect your body to run at a high-octane level when you fill it with low octane fuel! Junk food, fast food, sugary drinks, etc., is low octane fuel for your body. These foods put unnecessary stress on your body and hinders your body’s ability to play and recover from practices, trainings, games, etc.
Not only is it important to eat healthy, you must eat! Skipping meals is never a good idea. As a busy student-athlete, I get it! So, make sure you pack healthy snacks, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and don’t forget your water.
